I agree with the fuel idea, set fuel tap to "prime" and wait a minute or so, then try again.
but I do not recommend push-starting in 3rd gear or higher.this is how it should be done:
1. select 1st gear, push backwards till it goes no further
2. put in neutral
3. push like mad (and I mean that!)
4. jump on the bike put in 2nd (even better 1st gear)
5. stand up on passenger foot pegs
6. let yourself fall on passenger seat exactly when you let the clutch go, that should give the rear tyre enough pressure to the ground to prevent it from blocking.
Using 3rd gear and higher means a lot more stress on both engine and gearbox.
